I love birthdays. Like really, really, love them. There have been times I tried to pretend like I didn't really care because I thought that was the grown up thing to do. But now that I'm a grown up I realize it doesn't really matter what other people think. I think birthdays are awesome!
So this is my last birthday in my 20's I am turning 29 on Thursday.
I like getting older...there I said it. ha Every year older I get I get a deeper knowledge of God and my life seems to get richer. So next year if I freak out about turning 30 just gently point me back to this post. ;)
This year has been beautiful. Old friendships have been rekindled. New trails have been blazed in my world. I have become more confident and sure of what I want. What I want is closer to what God wants for me than it ever has been and it is beautiful.
My life is not charmed and I don't have a lot of money or even more than I need.
I live far away from a lot of people I love and sometimes I get lonely for them.
I'm still not good enough at speaking spanish to have a decent conversation.
But life is good.
I have these three guys wherever I go to make me smile.
And God knows all the desires of my heart and has been
granting even some of the silliest ones to me.
Because that is how God is. He loves to bless those who delight in Him.
29 is going to be a good year. I can feel it!
I also love gifts!
So this year for my birthday (and because this is my 100th blog post) I'm giving away a present.
I love butterflies and think these are just gorgeous! They are native to Peru and the picture doesn't do it justice. Depending on how you look at it you see purple, dark blue or this teal color.
So lovely
fyi that is victor's thumb...mine is much girly-er. ha
(girlyer is a word, even though spell check doesn't believe me)
My camera finally decided to bite the dust so Victor is the designated photographer now.
He's good at it isn't he?
This is actually a window sticker. It's backwards because you put it inside your window and it looks right from the outside. I just thought it was funny because that is a llama jumping over the u so it's like the puma logo only with a llama. haha
It's ok if you don't think it's funny. I still laughed.
I might even add a box of my favorite tea in if I don't forget.
All you have to do to be entered in the giveaway is leave a comment.
(If you comment anonymously please put your name so I know who you are)
If you want an extra entry you can tell me your favorite birthday or year or something that makes you happy.
Honestly this couldn't be easier :) I will announce the winner in my next blog

I like the butterfly it means a new beginning from an old cacoon who hides, and then it comes out to start a new life, like you all did,ya flew down to another life. A COLORFUL LIFE. Burrow
ReplyDeleteHi, and Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteYou know how much I love you...but I will tell you once again I LOVE YOU! I am so inspired by your courage and humility before our Lord. I know you are faith-FULL! It is something of the heart, not of the mind. It can not be comprehended, it just IS and it just SHOWS itself. You exude the attributes that the Holy Spirit grows in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness (you are all of this one!), and self-control (that's a good one!). SO...having said that, Feliz CumpleaƱos, mi amigo! OH...and one last Scripture for your birthday:
ReplyDeleteYou made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up,you are still with me!
~Psalm 139:13-18
I pray that the Sunlight of the Spirit shines down on you and warms you with a comfort and peace that you have never ever known, today and all days through eternity. In Jesus Name, AMEN

Hey kathryn :)
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, you're not alone. I also think that llama sticker is hilarious. Aaaaaand I think my favorite birthday was when I turned 18....because it was a rainy gloomy day but all my friends ended up surprising me with a surprise party and my mom made enchiladas haha.

100th post?! how can it be. happy birthday!! the puma sticker is magical. LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Kathryn!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love butterflies too! ESPECIALLY because my name means "butterfly" in Greek. I also love them because they symbolize both metamorphosis and beauty, of which all believers are going through by growing and becoming more and more like the image of Christ who is the source of all beauty!
Kathryn,
ReplyDeleteI know we dont really know eachother and may have only said hello a couple of times, but I want to say... YOU'RE AMAZING!
Your confidence in and obediance to our Lord, regardless of such unpredictable territory, astounds me. You my sister, give me hope... Hope for the salvation of lost people who seem so unreachable, so very far away. Yet by following Christ' lead and through your submission to your husband, you ARE THE LIGHT THAT SHALL NOT BE HIDDEN. I admire you for this.
I thank you for your ears that hear, and for realizing "faith" is a verb. I am surely praying for you.
BTW, Happy birthday & 100th post:)

Awesomeness!!! Happy, happy birthday!! Actually, 30 wasn't a huge change (at least for me). I'm eyeing 40 with quite a bit of wariness, though. ;) Things are falling apart, the hair is turning grayer, my get-up-and-go is done gone... eek!!
ReplyDeleteHope your day tomorrow is just perfect!!!
Whohoo for birthdays! And hooray for pirated signs from companies (haha I have a shirt for Ethan that says Puma Orinatel. Maybe was supposed to be Original?? who KNOWS????) to make us laugh. And hooray for giveaways!
ReplyDeleteWas so good to reconnect with you right before you left and catch up on the last 8 years! You're awesome, girl! Keep at it!
Hi honey. Happy birthday to you! One of my favorite birthday memories is the day you were born. After 13 hours of labor, when I first held you in my arms, your dad said to you, "Hi darling." You jerked your head in his direction to see the voice you had heard for months while you were in the womb. He had spent hours singing to you and talking to you before you were born. It is such a beautiful memory for me. Hope your birthday is wonderful. We are praying for you. Mom
ReplyDeleteWow! 100 posts and a birthday to boot! I pray your 29th year is so full and rich with blessings from the Lord that your cup will be full to overflowing.
ReplyDeleteLove and Blessings,
Lisa Lawrence
We were talking about you guys last night, about how what you're doing is so amazing because you went as a family, not just some single college kids with little to lose and no one else to worry about but theirselves. The sheer faith it took to take your young children there and do as God had called you to do with no certainties of most anything......wow. Yeah, we talk about you guys, often. We need to pray for you as much as we discuss you! New resolution, check! We love your family :) You're a unique bunch and your love for the Father makes you all the more beautiful! I love this post, made me laugh and also appreciate God's way of caring about even the silliest of our desires.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Laura Huey
Happy birthday! Many blessings in your new year!
